MacPherson set to be named Doonhamers manager

It has been reported that former St.Mirren manager Gus MacPherson will be announced as the new manager of Queen of the South. MacPherson was interviewed on Monday, and it set to take over following Kennry Brannigan’s departure from the Dumfries side at the end of the season.

MacPherson has been out of the managerial hot seat since last summer after the Paisley side did not renew his contract, despite leading the Buddies to the Scottish Cup Final. He had been interviewed for positions at Swindon Town and Bristol Rovers, but failed to land either job.

MacPherson was also linked with the Kilmarnock job last summer before Mixu Paatelainen was appointed. However, he is now set to take over at the Doonhamers, whose own contract was not renewed despite leading Queen of the South to the Challenge Cup Final and fourth place in Division One.
