Harkins swaps Dundee for Kilmarnock

Kilmarnock have made their second signing of the Summer, with the capture of Dundee captain Gary Harkins for an undisclosed fee.

Dundee chief executive Harry MacLean told the club’s Official website: “Unfortunately Gary has decided to join Kilmarnock as a result of an agreement entered into when the club went into administration that he could join a SPL club this summer, we had hoped that Gary would stay and had prepared budgets accordingly. While disappointed that we haven’t, as hoped, managed to persuade him to stay we fully understand his desire to play at as high a level as possible.”

Harkins made 70 league appearances for Dundee, scoring 20 goals, since he moved from Partick Thistle in July 2009. He joins striker Paul Heffernan at the Rugby Park side, as manager Kenny Shiels tries to reshape his side after losing a number of players at the end of the season.

Meanwhile Dundee have completed the signing of strikers Jake Hyde and Steven Milne, and midfielder Ryan Conroy.
