Adam Rooney swaps the Highlands for Middle England

Birmingham City last night signed Inverness striker Adam Rooney on a two-year deal. The St.Andrews side snapped up Rooney whose contract with the Highland side expired at the end of last season.

The Irishman scored 21 goals in 42 games for Terry Butcher’s side, and his arrival is the fourth summer signing for Birmingham City after Marlon King, Morgaro Gomis and Chris Burke all signed deals with Chris Hughton’s side.

Meanwhile Birmingham City owner Carson Yeung has been arrested and charged with money laundering. Yeung appeared in court in Hong Kong on Thursday to face five counts of ‘dealing with property known or believed to represent proceeds of an indictable offence’.

The South China Morning Post reported that Yeung was released on bail of £558,000 until the next hearing, which is scheduled for August 11. He was also ordered to surrender his travel documents and report regularly to police.
