Morton make moves for next season

Anyone who watched Morton over the last two seasons may have their nerves already shredded but the end of this year – disappointing though it was, was a hell of a lot better than last year’s. Last year the final game was a nail-biting game at the bottom end of the First Division whilst this year they were hosts to the promotion party. It was a party to which they were bridesmaids and ugly ones they would have felt but Manager Allan Moore has moved quickly to set out his stall for next year.

It has been reported that players who have been released include Goal keeper Kevin Cuthbert, Defenders David McGregor, Kevin McKinlay, Midfielders Darren Young and  Graeme Holmes alongside Forward Stewart Kean.

He also has a contract on the table for Player of the Year, Allan Jenkins as well as signed one year deals with Stuart McCaffrey and Marc Smyth .

Moore made no secret of his desire, after a shaky start to the season that he wanted  fourth place. he could still achieve that with a win at the weekend and results going his way elsewhere but the rebuilding job has started. Those players released, of course, are likely to appear at an SFL Club near you soon!
