Celtic’s Joe Ledley targeted by thugs

Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley was reportedly targeted by thugs who broke their way into his £1.5 million house in Bothwell, and vandalised his car also.

The Welsh international and girlfriend were not at home, during the attack, but called Police when they returned home on Saturday morning.

Strathclyde Police could not rule out the motive of a sectarian attack, after nothing was stolen in the raid.

A spokeswoman said, “Police were called to a report of a housebreaking. A car was also vandalised. Inquiries are ongoing. At this moment we can’t rule anything out.”

The incident came less than 24 hours after Police in Saltcoats, intercepted a hoax nail bomb addressed to Celtic manager Neil Lennon.

A Club spokesperson said, “Clearly, Joe will receive every support from Celtic Football Club.”
