Scottish Cup Round-up: Fifth Round ties

In the early cup game, Dundee United overcame a struggling Hamilton Accies side winning 3-1 at New Douglas Park. John Daly and Paul Dixon gave the Arabs a 2-0 lead at half time, before Mickael Antoine Curier pulled a goal back for the home side. However Prince Buaben settled the tie with United’s third.

Inverness Caley Thistle demolished First Division side Morton 5-1, with Adam Rooney scoring twice before managing to look like a bit of a donkey when he missed an absolute sitter in front of goal.

Motherwell beat Stranraer 2-0, Steve Jones and John Sutton sent Motherwell through to the next round.

St. Mirren just managed to fend off Second Division side Ayr United 2-1 at Somerset Park. Two first half goals from Craig Dargo gave the Paisley side the lead before a Mark Roberts penalty set up a nervy ending for the Buddies.

Brechin City qualified for the Quarter Finals after downing Buckie Thistle 2-0 at Victoria Park, thanks to goals from David McKenna and Rory McAllister.

Meanwhile Aberdeen scored a somewhat lucky injury time goal to reach the quarter finals beating Dunfermline 1-0 at Pittodrie. The Dons largely dominated the match, but they had to rely on Pars keeper Kyle Allison punching the ball against team-mate Neil McGregor to find a way past the Fife side.

Meanwhile the game between St. Johnstone and Partik Thistle was cancelled due to a waterlogged McDiarmid Park.
