Hibernian sign Ricardo Vaz Te until the Summer

Hibernian have signed former Bolton player Ricardo Vaz Te until the end of the season, after being on trial at the Easter Road side after being released by Panionios.

“Everything’s completed now so we’re delighted to announce he’s confirmed as a Hibernian player,” said Easter Road manager Colin Calderwood. “He’s missed a bit of football so there’s a bit of fitness he’s got to regain, but we’ll stick him in the squad for tomorrow night.”

Vaz Te left the Reebok ground after three seasons, hit by injury. And after failing to command a regular place in Greek outfit Panionios, he became a free agent.

“The reason to bring him in is to try and see what he can do – we’ll try and push that as soon as possible,” added Calderwood. “It’s an opportunity for him and ourselves to assess one another and see if we can have a fruitful end to the season. He’s got good pace, good technical ability and has shown good shooting prowess in training.”

He could make his debut for Calderwood’s side on Tuesday against Hamilton.
