After being hammered with call-offs once again, the Scotland team has now been named by Craig Levein to face the Faroe Islands. One question though, what is the fascination with naming your side 24 hours early? Does it not give the opposition a helping hand on how to set his own team out? Why not just name the team an hour before the game kicks off?
Anyway now that I have got my wee moan out-of-the-way, Danny Wilson and Barry Bannan as expected will both start for the Scotland making their debuts. Both are experienced with the Under 21 side but now have the chance to impress Craig Levein and those Tartan Army supporters who turn up at Pittodrie tomorrow night.
Sunderland’s Craig Gordon returns to the fold in goal for Scotland. In front of him former Rangers youngster Danny Wilson, now at Liverpool will partner Steven Caldwell in the heart of defence. Former Celtic full back Stephen Crainey, now at Blackpool will take his place at left back, and on the right will be Sunderland’s Phil Bardsley.
Darren Fletcher will slot into the heart of midfield and captain the side, with Blackpool’s Charlie Adam partnering him. Kris Commons and Shaun Maloney will make up the rest of the midfield slots, Maloney on the right and Commons on the left. Barry Bannan and Jamie Mackie will lead the Scotland attack.
